Obituary of Rae Irene Plick
Melbourne, FL – Rae Irene Plick, 87, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2019 with family by her bedside.
Rae was born in Elm, NJ on April 7, 1932. Rae was a 45 year resident of Randolph, NJ where she was a teacher for many years at Eisenhower Middle School in Roxbury, NJ.
Rae was an avid environmentalist and was a member of many environmental causes. She was active in local politics and notably served as the first President of the League of Women Voters in Randolph. She was also musically inclined and served as the pianist/organist for a local NJ church and was a lead member of the Bad Penney Band at her retirement community in Penney Farms, FL.
Rae was the first in her family to earn a college degree, graduating from the New Jersey State Teachers College at Trenton in 1953. During this time, she was inducted as a member of both the Kappa Delta Pi Sorority and the Arguromuthos Sigma Sorority.
Due to her declining health, Rae relocated to Shangri La, an assisted living facility in 2012, to be closer to her daughter in Melbourne, FL, where she received an abundance of love until her death from the caring and devoted staff.
Rae was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Madeline Matro; husband of 50 years, James J. Plick Esquire; sister, Carmella Matro; and daughter, Deborah Plick.
She is survived by her sister, Virginia Butterhof (Anthony) of Egg Harbor City, NJ; brother, Thomas (Deborah) Matro of Warren, NJ; son, John Plick of Andover, NJ; daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Seibert (Jeffrey) of Indialantic, FL; and granddaughter, Angela Seibert. In addition, she will be missed by her nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
A memorial service will be held on June 15, 2019, 2:00 pm at the Penney Memorial Church, 4465 Poling Blvd in Penney Farms, FL. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
