Obituary of Robert Joseph Hughes
Robert Joseph Hughes of Manchester, New Hampshire died on September 5th, 2019 in Melbourne, Florida.
He was born on February 24th, 1942 to Arthur Henry Hughes and Marie Jeanne Auger in South Berwick, Maine.
Robert graduated from Bishop Brady High School now known as Trinity High School of Manchester, NH in 1959 after graduation he left to pursue his dreams, and he sure did.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1967 as an airman second class and was awarded and AF Good conduct medal, AF longevity service award and the national defense service medal.
From 1967 to 1972 he worked in Security Forces guarding the Kwajalein missile range in Kwajalein, Marshall islands, trust territory of the Pacific islands. During this time he owned and operated a bar named Starlite in Sasebo, Fukuoka, Japan.
From 1974 to 1999 he was a co-general agent in consumer service systems and had established himself as an Asian marketing representative in Japan, Taiwan, Philippines and the Republic of South Korea. He marketed and sold life insurance policies for members of the United States armed forces and civilian department of defense employees deployed to the South Pacific basin.
From December 1999 to June 2000 he worked at Abbicus Communication. In June 2000 he left Abbicus and started working at Fidelity investment as a customer service representative and stock trader trainee until October 2000 when began working as an armed escort for transportation of monies and securities for various Banks and retail outlets housed throughout New England.
From April 2001 to 2017 he worked as a youth counselor for the State of New Hampshire providing safety and security for incarcerated juveniles adjudicated by the courts, provided treatment and programming designed to help residents cope with their future decisions and help them to become productive members of society.
He spent his retirement with a part time job, working at Enterprise driving cars all along the east coast of the US. Robert was a real hardworking man, and has taught his son Samuel the same work ethics.
In 1982 while he was employed in South Korea as a co-general agent life insurance salesman he met his wife Mikyung. He was such a happy and gentle man. He spent most of his time there getting to know each other and enjoy South Korea together.
In 1986 to 2019 he was a father to Samuel Hughes. He loved to go fishing every chance he could and tremendously enjoyed the company of his peers. He was originally from New Hampshire, but
He loves his grandson Aidan and daughter-in-law Patricia as much as he loved his wife Mikyung and son Samuel.
He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him, but we all rest assured that he is in heaven with our heavenly father.
He is survived by his wife, Mikyung; his son Samuel and his daughter-in-law Patricia; his grandson Aidan; sister Kathy and her spouse Armand; nephews Tom (Cindy), Steve (Buom), and Tim; several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
