Obituary of Gregory Shea
On 13 December 2018 Gregory Shea, beloved husband of Patricia, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with ALS. Born in Wisconsin on April 11, 1954 he grew up in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.
He attended Oak Creek Senior High, graduated in 1972. He then attended MATC studying Police Science. He earned his BA from Warner Southern College in 1993. On September 1, 1974 he was hired as a Patrolman with the city of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. While working in Oconomowoc he was a member of the dive team, pistol league, as well as assistant team leader on the SWAT team.
In 1975 he married his loving wife Patricia. In 1987 they moved to Cocoa, Florida after taking a job as a deputy sheriff with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. While employed by the Sheriff’s Office he was a field training officer, corporal, sergeant and deputy inspector.
After making sergeant he was assigned to Canaveral Precinct. Except for one year in internal affairs he worked the Canaveral Precinct until his retirement in 2014.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Community, serving as an usher for many years. He and Pat were avid motorcycle riders. They were members of the Space Coast Harley Owners Club. They rode throughout the US and Germany. They made many friends while doing this.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; sons, Ryan Shea and spouse Elizabeth Lord and LTJG Jason Shea (USN) and spouse Nicole Shea; mother Evelyn Willms Shea; sister, Kathleen and spouse Robert Seigle; brother, James spouse Elizabeth Shea; nieces and nephews and everyone he knew and respected at the Canaveral Precinct as well as other members of the Sheriff’s Office.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 11:00 am on December 17, 2018.
