Tommy passed on to his Heavenly life on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at the age of 79. Born in Kinston, NC, Tommy passed away in Melbourne, FL where he had lived for the past 48 years. He died from complications of lymphoma.
Beloved by all. He was a man known by many names: Husband, Dad, Papaw, Breadman, Family Man.
Husband: Tommy was a loving husband. He was fortunate to be loved by, and married to, two beautiful women. He was married to Libby (Elizabeth Ann) for 51 wonderful years. After they retired, they enjoyed some cruises and train trips. During Libby+óGé¼Gäós illness, Tommy was her tireless caregiver. They shared a blessed life together with many happy memories. She passed away in 2009. Over the years, Libby & Tommy had a special person in their lives +óGé¼GÇ£ Ethel. After Libby passed, Tommy & Ethel remained close, and in 2012, were married. Although their time together was short, they shared many happy experiences. They took care of each other, and had fun together. Ethel was by his side through his recent battles of lymphoma. We love her and are happy she is part of our family.
Dad/Father-in-Law: Tommy & Libby raised four children: Cathy Lewis, Teresa Sowards, William +óGé¼+ôTommy+óGé¼-¥ Gregg & Chief Petty Officer Richard Gregg. Dad was very proud of all of us. There were many tough times, but Dad always worked hard to support his family. He loved his kids and made sure we were taken care of. His love and sacrifices he made for his family were endless. He loved his son-in-law Corky (Tom Lewis), and his daughters-in-law Lynda & Kimberly, like they were his own kids.
Papaw: 10 Grandchildren; 6 Great-grandchildren. He loved them all, and they loved him.
Grandson Byron Lewis; wife, Lauren
Granddaughter Jennifer Kelly; great-grandsons Joshua & Scottie
Grandson Scott Sowards; great-grandchildren Alix & Julie Ann
Grandsons Matthew and Brandon Gregg
Granddaughter Lauren; great-grandchildren Harley & Emma
Grandchildren Sierra, Ezekiel, Georgia, Olivia
Breadman: Tommy retired from Flowers Foods, after a successful career as a Salesman for Sunbeam, Flowers, & Dolly Madison. He was affectionately dubbed +óGé¼+ôBreadman+óGé¼-¥ by his friend Tommy Lewis. The Dolly Madison truck was a special treat for us kids — especially Tommy, who was frequently found raiding the honey buns!
He also proudly served in the U.S.Army.
Family Man: Other special people in Tommy+óGé¼Gäós life included his sisters, Juanita & Francis, and his nieces and nephews Delores, Jerry, Michael, Sheri, Eric and their children and grandchildren.
Ethel+óGé¼Gäós family was very dear to Dad. We are thankful for the love they had for him. He was fortunate to have an extended family to share his life.
