I met Theresa when we both worked at the Farm Credit Administration (FCA) back in the 1980s. She took care of the plants that graced the building. Without her love and care, the building would have been nowhere near as beautiful as it was. It was a very special moment for me when Theresa gifted me with a Peace Lily plant she said was left over from one of her displays. I was honored!
My growing interest in plants, nurtured by Theresa’s vast knowledge of how to take care of them and keep them healthy, very rapidly made us fast friends, and that friendship only increased over the years, despite our being apart geographically.
When a Reduction in Force (RIF) action meant I left FCA, Theresa and I stayed in touch, and we continued to be friends over the past decades. She used to say, “Friends Always,” and she truly meant it. I once helped give her a reference for a job, and she appreciated it very much, but it was the least I could do for my beautiful friend who would send me sweet cards in the mail whenever she knew I could use a kind word or would benefit from hearing something funny or joyful.
Theresa’s thoughtfulness knew no bounds, and I was stunned when Sonny texted me to tell me she had passed away. I had so much been hoping Theresa and Sonny and I could finally get together now that we all lived in Florida, because my husband and I moved to Florida in the past year. It fills me with sadness that we will not be able to visit as she and I had hoped and had recently discussed; however, I do feel as though I have an angel in heaven looking down on me and smiling on me. She is sending me sweet and loving thoughts and words of courage and encouragement, and her name is Theresa. I will always have her with me; she is a beautiful soul.
Sonny, the Langdon and Flamer families, and all who knew and loved Theresa, I pray you will soon find great comfort from your memories of Theresa and that your hearts will feel peace.
I am thinking of you,
