Tristam GÇ£TrisGÇ¥ Burgess Miles passed away at Wuesthoff Hospice on March 12, 2014 at the age of 69.
Tris is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ellen Andronaco Miles, with whom he shared a wonderful relationship spanning nearly 30 years.
He is lovingly remembered by his son, Tristam Brett Miles; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Mostert (Scott) and their daughters, Paige and Brooke Mostert; his stepdaughter, Amy Talbot (Dan). Tris is also survived by his sisters, Martha Gay Kreager and Robin Yerman, his sister-in-law, Carol Bundegaard; and their children, Tristan Kreager, Randy Yerman, and April Dawn Bordoy. He is predeceased by his mother, Ellen Virginia Bundegaard; his father, Edward Miles; and his brother, Peter Bundegaard.
Tris was born in Providence, RI on May 23, 1944. He moved to Rowayton, CT as an infant and lived there for his entire childhood. He graduated from Brien McMahon High School in 1962, and went on to have a distinguished career as a tower crane operator, for which he earned numerous licenses and certifications. Tris truly personified the GÇ£yankee work ethicGÇ¥, working long hours six and sometimes seven days a week as he helped to build the Miami skyline.
He was a proud Democrat and lifelong union member. In his later years, he canvassed neighborhoods and volunteered to support union causes.
As a boy growing up in the waterfront town of Rowayton, Tris enjoyed all aspects of the water; sailing, fishing, and swimming. When he moved to Florida as a young man, he continued to enjoy time on the water. As a retiree, he explored the waterways in and around his new home in Brevard County. He would leave with his kayak in the early morning and stay out all day. Once he found fly fishing, he never looked back.
Tris loved playing and watching all sports throughout his life. As a boy, he loved the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He remained a loyal fan even after his move to Florida, although he eventually became a Miami Heat fan. One of his last outings was to a Miami Heat game where he had seats on the floor and enjoyed every moment.
While not a member of any specific church, Tris was a deeply spiritual person. He believed in faith, family, and fairness.
