Obituary of Larry Allen Lane

Larry Allen Lane went home to be with the Lord on July 14th 2019 in the comfort and care of the Vitas Hospice Inpatient staff. Larry was born September 27th 1949 in Portland, Oregon where he grew up in the Pacific Northwest amongst the evergreen trees but his heart yearned for the warmth of the sun, the sandy beaches and the palm trees of his paradise known to him as “Kokmo” Florida.  He proudly served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam war and loved sharing his experience and war stories with the other veterans and his family.  Larry graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Business from Central Washington University.  Larry was the ultimate sales man, with a great sales pitch, he could sell you a glass of water from your own kitchen sink if you let him.  He was creative, intuitive, imaginative, with an ingenious sense for business.  Larry’s creativity drew crowds at the Kitsap County fair in the 1980’s when he dressed as a Ghostbuster to sell phone book advertisements using the famous slogan “Who you gonna call?”.  He owned many businesses through out his life but later due to illness was forced to retire, but his mind never did, he always said life is like a game of chess you better know your next move. He was a devoted family man, cherishing his children making up new games and rewriting the classic children fables to make them his own.  He built the ultimate tree fort for his children when they were young, where all the kids in the neighborhood came to play.  Larry would throw “Very Happy Un-Birthday Parties” to celebrate nobody’s birthday in general, but to celebrate his family and to have fun.  He was spontaneous, adventurous, and full of life.  He lived life the way he wanted to. He is preceded in death by his father and mother.  He is survived by his loving wife Janet Kaye Kendall.  Three children: Tammy Brinkley (Robert Willams), Christopher Lane, Rose-Marie Chamberlain (Larry Humphrey). Three step-children: Michael Kendall (Charlene), Amy Morton (Chad), Dennis Kendall, and many grandchildren.  He is also survived by a sister Nancy Kay Harris of Seattle, a brother Robert Lane (Lynn) of Oregon and cherished longtime family friends, The McDowell family and Sally Sarkis. Larry was man of God, he was devote Christian.  Although Larry was not perfect, hes strived for forgiveness.  Larry will be missed but he will no longer be in pain. May he once walk again with the strength of the Marine he once was and fly with the wings of the angel he now is. Semper Fidelis! He will be laid to rest with military honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Michigan.
