Obituary of Karin Elizabeth Bakke
Karin Bakke, 93, returned to the light on December 23rd 2019 at home with her family.
Karin was born on August 17, 1926 in Enviken, Sweden to Johan and Anna Haglund. She grew up on a farm in a small village with her sister Ingrid and two brothers Neils and Gunnar.
At the age of 21, she came to America as a hairdresser and set up residency in Minnesota. She met and married Robert Bakke in the fall of 1950. He went on to become Judge Robert Bakke, and Karin’s title became Mrs. Judge Robert Bakke. They raised two beautiful daughters, Linda and Cynthia, in Anoka County, Minnesota.
Karin was the lady of the house, a homemaker and hostess to many elaborate dinner parties with guests including Hubert Humprey, Governors and Senators of Minnesota. All who knew Karin spoke of her exceptional cooking and baking.
Karin moved to Florida in 1990 with her youngest daughter Cynthia and three grandchildren, Robert, Ahna and James. She played an amazing role in helping support and raise her grandchildren.
Her hobbies were cooking, baking, gardening and playing Hollywood, a Swedish card game that is still a family favorite. She was a woman full of kindness, love and a little stubborn as well. She is survived by her daughters Cynthia Uttech, and Linda Strutzel. Sister Ingrid Callsvik and brother Gunnar Haglund.
