Obituary of Donald Fuller Schultz

Donald Fuller Schultz July 24, 1937 – August 29, 2018 Donald Fuller Schultz, 81, of Mims, Florida, formerly of Richmond Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2018. He was born on July 24, 1937, and was the son of the late William and Irene Schultz. Don is survived by his wife Sheri Schultz, his daughter Donna Barnett (Charlie), brother Paul Schultz of Vineyard Haven, MA; his grandchildren Hannah Barnett of Hatteras, NC, Amanda Paschke (Scott) of Henrico, VA, Stephanie Spain of Richmond, VA, Mary Katherine Spain of Richmond, VA; great-grandchildren Riley Spain, Davis Paschke, William Paschke and Madison Kelly; and niece Alexandra Byrd, of Homer, Alaska. He is also survived by step-grandsons Brett Barnett (Jessica) and Colin Barnett (Abby) of Greenville, NC, and step-great-grandson Grayson Barnett. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Peter Griesser and his beloved Uncle Russell Snowden. Don joined the United States Army after graduating from high school and proudly served four years. He then attended and graduated from the City of Richmond Police Academy in November 1963. He honorably retired after a long and distinguished 31-year career with the department. He was greatly respected and loved by his community, coworkers, friends and family. Don was known for his quick wit and his legendary practical jokes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 442, Hatteras, NC 27943. Per his request, Don’s ashes will be scattered at a later date on Hatteras Island where his daughter resides. Don loved Hatteras Island and his days spent there were some of the best of his life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
