Obituary of Alice L. Josephson

Alice L Josephson, 96, passed away on December 24, 2018 at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida from complications of a fall with brain injury, and Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on April 16, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan to Arthur and Bertha (Orling) Niedermiller. Alice grew up in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. She graduated from South Lake High School in 1940. After high school she worked at the Union Investment Company in downtown Detroit and later at the Friendship Force in Atlanta. She attended Bowling Green State University and taught elementary education in northern Ohio. She volunteered for many years at the Cocoa Beach Library as a book mender, at Cape Canaveral Hospital in transportation, and with Hospice of Health First, who assisted at Alice’s end-of-life. Alice married Carl Josephson in 1943 in Detroit. They were happily married for 39 years. Alice was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Cocoa Beach. She enjoyed painting, pottery, sewing, sailing and world travel. Alice was preceded in death by her parents in 1965 and her husband Carl in 1982. Alice is survived by her son Roy Josephson of Rockledge, FL, her daughter-in-law Kathleen, granddaughter Kristin Chase and Kristin’s husband Nathan Chase and two great grandchildren Cameron Chase and Jillian Chase all of Winter Garden, FL and her sister Elaine Hargreaves of Southfield, MI. Cremation by Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care. A memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection at a future date.
