One day, about 12 years ago, an older couple walked into my humble little card and gift shop in Sebastian. We struck up a conversation, me and these 2 delightful folks - and found ourselves immediate friends. On this, Mary Jo's first heavenly anniversary, I recall our fun times at the Eagles, where John (of course) talked us into coming and got us in the regular karaoke routine there. Mary Jo and I would sneak off and chat privately while our guys would drink their beers and sing.
They often came into the store just to visit, buy their cards and make sure we hadn't forgotten them until we had to close the store in 2010. John's back was in terrible shape; Mary Jo was fighting bouts of pneumonia, so we didn't get together as often.
We moved back to Ohio in 2017, but I've often thought of them - even dropped messages on John's FB page, but this is the first I've seen mention. I'm sorry for her family, but I'm happy that Mary Jo is at peace and comfort again. God bless you in your journey, dear lady!
With love from

Dear Karen and family:
There are no words to soften your heartache at this time. The loss of our moms is the greatest loss in the world. Just know your mom is at peace and God will give you the strength everyday to continue on.. As I was told when my mom passed away, your mom is always on your shoulder so feel her love embracing you everyday… When you miss her so much, look to your left shoulder, over your heart and she will be there❤️

Mom, I miss you so much. Waves of grief come over me many times a day. My comfort during those times is the fact that Jesus Christ was your Saviour and you’re walking in His promises of eternal life in paradise. How can I be so selfish to want you back here with me? Your young now, you’re not blind, you’re strong, laughing, carefree, you’re not weighted down with the cares and struggles of this world. You’re with dad, your sisters, Carmen and so many more that knew the Lord and has gone before you. Most importantly, you’re beholding Jesus! No mom, you enjoy your rewards and I’ll see you soon. You left a beautiful legacy of love, forgiveness, patience and your favorite saying “soft words turn away wrath”….that conquered every hardship life threw at you. I only hope I will be able to follow in your footsteps and be remembered for those same fruits of the Spirit. I had a good teacher. Until I see you again, you will forever be in my heart. I love you mom.

To the family and friends of Mary Jo Teuchert,
Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one, Mary Jo. These words from the scriptures helped me when I experienced the death of a loved one “And no resident will say: “I am sick….” (Isaiah 33:24). Also another Bible promise says: “And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing.” (1 Corinthians 15:26) We all look forward to the time, in the future, when these promises are fulfilled. I hope these words from the Scriptures will bring a measure of comfort. Please accept my sincere sympathy.
