Obituary of Vincent A. Moavero
Vincent Alphonse Moavero was born November 27, 1930 In Stamford, Connecticut to Alphonse and Blanche Moavero. He was their only son among two older sisters, Jeanette and Florence and one younger sister, Barbara.
Vincent was a graduate of Stamford High School Class of 1950. He enjoyed scouting which prepared him for a military career in the United States Air Force. Vincent enlisted in the service during the Korean War at the age of 20 where he was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of traveling the world.
He married the pretty girl next door named Barbara Conte in the fall of 1958 at St. Cecilia Church in Stamford Connecticut. Together they quickly started a family, welcoming Melanie, then twins Dawn and David, and finally the youngest Lori all within 2 years 9 months.
He was preceded in death by his Alphonse and Blanche Moavero; sister Barbara Lupinacci and son David Vincent Moavero.
Vincent taught his children the value of life through his dedication to his family and friends, and his enthusiastic work ethics. He was a leader, protector and cast a tremendous influence as others looked to the example he set. Vince had a quirky way about him yet never allowed any negativity to influence his outlook on life.
After a 24 year tour in the Air Force, which allowed Vincent, Barbara and their children to travel to some of the most interesting places through this world including Europe, Africa and parts of the United State, Vincent tried his hand at civilian life working as a buyer for Mod Comp and Northern Telecom corporations.
Vincent improved his intellect by enrolling in local college courses. He had a fond curiosity for drafting and architect. He returned to government work by becoming a letter carrier for 14 years with the United States Postal Service in Delray Beach, Florida .
Vincent and Barbara retired in 1996 and moved to Valkaria, Florida. They continued their love of traveling by visiting all but a few of the Presidential Libraries. They toured Iceland, New Zealand, Australia, Porte Rico, and Mexico, just to name a few. They visited and had a meal in all 50 states.
When you would find Vincent at home, it was impossible to pull him away from Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune (until the age of DVR+óGé¼Gäós).
He had joy in his heart as he played the role of father of the bride to Melanie as she married Jim and when Lori married Mark.
Vincent was an avid Yankees, Notre Dame and Dallas Cowboys fan, as well as any sport his grandchildren were a part of.
He was known as grandad to Karen, Greg, Nicole, Jon, Tina, Kevin, Grant, Megan, Adam, and Andy and great granddaddy to Amie, Derek, Alex and David.
Vincent was a member of the Catholic Seniors on the Move club at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palm Bay, FL where he and Barbara volunteered with St Joseph Catholic School.
His charming and playful personality brightened the offices of the many doctors and nurses who cared for him.
Vincent passed away on April 14, 2015 at the age of 84 after a brave battle with cancer. He will always hold a special place in our hearts for those that he adored from the day he was born through the end of his journey we call life.
