Obituary of Gareld Rae West
Gareld Rae West was born on March 14, 1936, outside of Litchfield Nebraska on his grandparent’s, Sam & Hester Eastabrook, farm. He was welcomed into this world by his Mother Belva West, 8 year old brother, Lyle West and 7 year old sister, Olive West. His father Harry West was in Ellensburg, Washington, where he eventually moved his family to be with him when Gareld was almost 3 years old.
Gareld graduated from Ellensburg High School and then joined the United States Air Force where he flew a U2 plane. After retiring from the Air Force, he moved to Florida and was self-employed for a short time before going to work at Cape Canaveral where he worked until he retired. During those years, the U.S. government contracted him to set up a communications system in Africa and later in Cambodia.
Gareld was married 5 times but never had any children.
He was preceded in death by his father Harry West, mother Belva West, and brother Lyle West. He is mourned by his sister Olive Grubb of Colfax, WA and many nieces and nephews, as well as his friends in Brevard County.
