Obituary of Charles “Charlie” W. Cooper

Charles “Charlie” W. Cooper, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 24, 2018. He is survived by his spouse, Jan Cooper; his children, Rickie Cooper (Debbie) of Washington, Carolyn Duke (Randy) of Georgia, Beverly Jordan (Mark) of Titusville; grandchildren, Richard Cooper of Washington, David Leininger, Steven Jordan, Lindasay Ristow of Titusville, Lacey Hether of Palm Coast, Jacob Cooper, James “Jimmy” Cooper and Christopher Cooper of Mims. He was also blessed with 11 great grandchildren.
Charlie is preceded in death by his beloved son, Chuck Cooper and his grandson, Michael Leininger.
Charlie proudly served in the U.S. Army and later went to work at the Kennedy Space Center in November of 1964, there he retired as a well-respected Lead Electrician in April of 2000. He was an avid sports fan who bowled and played softball for many decades in various Brevard County Leagues including the over 70 age group. He also served as a youth football coach, youth and women’s softball coach, as well as an umpire in Brevard County for many years. His intense passion for sports, competition and witty humor will certainly be missed by family and friends.
