My dear friend of fifty-five years, you take my heart. From the first day I met you, we were close friends, and I loved you! We started our careers in Brevard together when we were placed at Brevard Community College. I always contended that you taught me more about teaching reading than I had learned in my Masters in Reading program and my couple of years of experience. I always enjoyed your three daughters and have valued their friendship over the years. As I have always told you, “when you pass, you take much of my history with you.” Your memory was always the sharpest of anyone’s I knew, and you certainly remembered MUCH more of my life in the last 55 years than I did. When we visited over the years, you always regaled my children with our many escapades, some of which I would just as soon have left untold. I love you, value all you have meant in my life, and I will miss you more than I can express. My life has been blessed with three best friends of long standing…you were the final one. This one is especially difficult. Enjoy the next adventure, and I will hope to join you once again.
