Obituary of Maxine P. Culp
Maxine Phillis Culp, age 89, passed away on September 28, 2015 in Viera, FL. She was born in Ord, NE on August 19, 1926 to James and Constance McClement, the youngest of six children. Her family moved to Craig, CO when she was two years old. She graduated from Craig High in 1943. On April 1, 1944, she met Elzie Morton at a country dance. From Bowen, KY, he was in Craig on leave from the Army. They married 12 days later in Denver and the young couple moved to Santa Barbara, CA.
Maxine and Elzie had three children. After the war, they returned to Craig, CO for several years, eventually moving to Denver. Maxine worked for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company. She started as an operator and worked her way up to District Manager of Wage & Salary Administration and Management Job Evaluation.
Maxine and Elzie parted ways in early 1970. She married James K. Culp, and for the next 23 years, they traveled extensively throughout the world. Jim and Maxine lived a life that many people only dream of, traveling, entertaining and hosting many large family get togethers. After Jim+óGé¼Gäós death, Maxine relocated to Melbourne, FL in 1998 to live with her daughter, Carol.
Maxine is survived and missed by her three children Michael (Lori) Morton of Colorado Springs, CO, Russell (Betty) Morton of Fort Collins, CO and Carol Anderson of Viera, FL. She leaves eight grandchildren Cyndee, Greg, Scott, Brian, Erin, Kellie, Heather, and Eric, and 11 great grandchildren Patrick, Kayleigh, Gabriella, Brady, Chase, Gavin, Jackson, Jacob, Samuel, Ariana, and Arden to cherish her memory.
Maxine is preceded in death by her husband James Culp of Denver, her three brothers and two sisters, and her great grandson Ryan Morton of Colorado Springs.There will be a memorial service at The Church of Viera on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 1:00 pm located at 9005 N. Wickham Road, Viera, FL 32940.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Health First, 1900 Dairy Road, W. Melbourne, FL 32904, or the charity of your choice.
