Obituary of William Jerome Eck
William Jerome Eck (known by his friends and family as Bill) age 81, passed away peacefully at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, Florida, Friday January 6, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Bill served 24 years in the United States Air Force as a Load Master before retiring in 1978 at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield California. He served in both the Korean War and Vietnam War. He received several distinguished metals during his time of service. He traveled and lived all over the world before settling Palm Bay Florida.
Bill had several friends at the American Legion where he was a member for many years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and taking road trips. He also enjoyed sports cars and driving fast. He bought and sold several Corvettes over the years. Bill was very knowledgeable about different aircrafts and had several pictures and model planes in his home.
Bill had three daughters Annette Sallee (Indiana), Jannette Kortman (Pennsylvania), Sharrie Swesey (Washington). He also had two granddaughters Nicole Swesey (Washington) and Natalie Swesey (Idaho). He had a winning smile and will be missed by all who knew and loved him
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race and I have kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7).
A celebration of life was held at the American Legion in Palm Bay on January 8th, 2017.
Bill will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date to be advised.
