Obituary of Ronald David Johnson
Ronald David Johnson, 61, of Titusville died December 30, 2016 at home, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born in Warsaw, NY, the eldest son of Donald and Norma (Bater) Johnson. He moved to Florida at the age of 13 and was a 1973 graduate of Titusville High School. He was a member of the Titusville Police Explorers, missing his high school graduation to direct traffic. He went on to receive his EMT, Firefighter and Paramedic certifications and served his community for 43 years.
In 1978 he was married to Victoria L. Rizzo in Merritt Island, FL. They have five children.
Ron was employed by Brevard County Fire Rescue in 1984. He was previously employed by Chappell Ambulance and Brevard Ambulance Service Inc. since 1973 prior to their transition to BCFR. Ronald retired from BCFR in 2009 at which time he began actively volunteering at Mims Volunteer Fire Department alongside his two sons. He most recently served as a Captain and Vice President for the corporation side. Ronald was also a former member and Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of America for over 20 years and completed Wood Badge training.
He leaves behind his wife, Vickie of nearly 39 years; his son Jeremy Johnson; daughter Shannon Johnson and “son in law,” Frederick Ramos; daughter Jennifer Donoro and son in law, Frank Donoro; daughter Melissa Johnson and “son in law,” Brian Hasert; son Matthew Johnson and daughter in law, Victoria Johnson. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren during his lifetime. He is also survived by his mother, Norma Johnson; his sisters Debbie Hodkins and Cindy Timmins; and brother, Keith Johnson. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Donald Johnson.
Ron, known as “Ron Jon” to his friends, was a fun-loving man with a great sense of humor. He was a man with many friends within the community who he’d give the shirt off of his back for. He was also a strong, hard-working man who spent many years providing the best for his family. He enjoyed “fixing” things around the house and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Ron is a man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
