Obituary of Andrea Maxine Ashe
Andrea M. (Knudsen) Ashe was born in Minneapolis on July 15, 1944, to Junius Jewett Knudsen and Mary Elizabeth Knudsen.
Andrea was a graduate of the University of Minnesota where she studied fine art and was an accomplished painter and interior designer. On May 8, 1971, she was married to Bill Ashe. The couple resided in New York City, where Mr. Ashe worked as a photographer and Andrea was a tariff manager for Japan Airlines.
The couple were world travelers and visited six continents. When newly married, the couple traveled to India in a Land Rover that they had outfitted for the journey in England and drove to the sub continent via Iran and Afghanistan, crossing through the Khyber Pass. Mrs. Ashe enjoyed central Afghanistan and would often recount her memories of the trip. The couple traveled extensively in India and Nepal for almost a year and trekked in Eastern Nepal in the Annapurna range.
In retirement, the couple resided in Unadilla, New York, and also had homes in New York City and Indian Harbour Beach, Florida.
She is survived by her husband Bill Ashe; her sister Kathy Kerr; and two nieces, Elizabeth Kerr and Anna Hotz. She is preceded by two sisters, JoAnn and Mary Knudsen.
