Obituary of Jerry Sylvester Eiler

Jerry Sylvester Eiler, 77, of Melbourne, FL went home to be with Jesus on February 19, 2020. Jerry was a retired postmaster from Cape Cod, MA. He led a colorful life, had a great sense of humor, and loved to entertain family and friends with his incredible stories. Jerry’s father played saxophone in the Tommy Dorsey Band which gave him access to many famous people.  Some of the stories he told were how Clark Gable taught him to shoot skeet as a boy, he danced on American Bandstand as a teenager, and he wallpapered Lee Remick’s house and had coffee with her in her kitchen. He was a waiter for Emeril Lagasse, guarded JFK’s Air Force One while in the service and shared a hospital room with Henry Kissinger. Jerry never met a stranger and had a beautiful bass voice. He loved gospel music and we know he is singing in the heavenly choir. He leaves behind his wife of 15 years, Patricia Jenkins Eiler; his children and their spouses Marc (Gosia) Eiler, Renee (Pete) Lundy, Lynette (Bret) Parker; his step children, Les and Craig (Sherie) Jenkins; several grandchildren; and his sister Lois Kilpatrick. His memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Faith Fellowship Church located at 2820 Business Center Blvd. in Melbourne, Florida.
