Dear Mary and family,
It was with great sadness that we heard of Lee’s passing to his reward in heaven. As chaplain of the Khe Sanh Veterans, I offer the following prayer and scripture for Lee and those who love him;
O Loving God, please be with us as we honor the life of one who served our nation, for Lee has been taken from our midst and is now in your care. We are pained by the gap in our lives. Yet love is stronger than death; the bonds love creates are eternal. And ours is the blessing of memory, through which the lives of our departed continue to be with us.
Please accept our prayers on behalf of Lee. May he rest in peace, and may light perpetual shine upon him. Please look with mercy upon those among us, family, friends, and comrades, who are bereaved by this passing. Please comfort and console us all with your presence and tenderness. In Christ Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Semper Fidelis Marine,
Khe Sanh Veteran’s Chaplain Ron Rayner

James Tavares,
My condolences to Lee’s family . I only met Lee a few years ago at a local restaurant .
We became instant friends; and I learned that we served at the same units commencing in Paris Island, SC, up until the battle of Khe sand, Viet Nam in 1968 . Lee went on to a long career in the Marine Corps .
I believe he is now guarding the gates of heaven with many of his marine comrades .
I will miss you my friend and wish that I had met you many years ago.
Rest in peace and Semper Fi my brother.
Love Jim Tavares A1/9 , USMC

No matter what or when, he was there. He was a wonderful Dad, but nothing compared to the Pop-pop he was. I will never forget having him join us at the moving Wall and seeing him with fellow Marines. My prayers for Jenn and all those who loved Lee.

Sending my deepest and most heartfelt sympathies to Lee’s family. I’ve known Lee since we were both 15, waiting for the school bus together. I’ll always remember him as that sweet quiet boy who turned into a fine honorable man, putting it all on the line for family and country. I wish you all the best and most beautiful memories of this amazing human being. I am so sorry for your loss.

Vicky and I are truly sorry for your loss. Lee was like my big brother. We had some wonderful times together.
I will miss the phone call with him calling me Putz. He would always tell me how much he loved all of you.
My heart is broken with loss of my best friend.
Love,
George

Mary, Jennifer and Karen –
I am so sorry for your loss of Lee. Hang onto all the memories and know that he will always be in your hearts.
My time with him as his sister was cut short by circumstances beyond our control and I’m really sad that we will not be able to do the things we had talked about. I always knew how much he loved me and I was truly blessed to have a brother who always cared and loved me no matter how many miles separated us.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.
Love,
Elaine
