Obituary of Ramon Sidney Forst
Ramon S. Forst, 87, died January 18, 2015. He was born June 26, 1927 in Mount Hope, WV to Charles F. and Doris E. Lilly Forst.
He was a WWII Veteran serving as a radio operator with the 4th Constabulary in Germany.. Famon moved to Cocoa, FL in 1956 after answering a job ad for a satellite operator with RCA at the Eastern Missile Test Range, working for over 35 years in timing & telemetry.
Ramon moved to Cocoa with his wife June and young daughter Suzann. Housing was scarce. They lived in the Brevard Hotel and a couple other temporary arrangements until their home at 911 Acacia Way was completed. Daughter Sara and son Tim were born in the next couple years.
Sundays were always family days, many of which were spent fishing at Port Canaveral, Kars Park, road trips to visit his brother Connie and family in Orlando, or treasure hunt at area flea markets. He loved musicGǪ playing his harmonica while his beloved dog Cracker sang along. He listened to music of all types: blue grass, country, and polka. He was always humming and whistling along.
He was extremely proud of his children and six grandchildren. He became a great grandpa just days before his passing. He is survived by his children, Suzann Forst Herrington, Sara Forst Griffin (Greg Griffin), and Timothy Ramon Forst; six grandchildren, Glenn Herrington, Alan Herrington (Heather), Alysson Griffin Lyons (Justin), Ashley Griffin, Jason Forst, Kevin Forst (Mary); brothers, Charles and Walter Forst; sister, Margaret Slater; great-grandson, Logan Blaise Forst; and sister-in-law Doris Arthur (Bill), many nieces & nephews.
After 56 years of marriage he was widowed in 2007. Several years later he accepted a lunch date with Betty, a family friend. They had many GÇ£commonalitiesGÇ¥ as Ramon would say and soon became GÇ£sweetheartsGÇ¥ They adored each other and were together the day of his passing. He was blessed to have BettyGÇÖs granddaughter Andrea as his caregiver the last couple years. They loved listening to music, telling stories, petting his dog Cheyenne and visiting grandma on Sunday afternoons.
He will always be remembered for his sweet smile, funny words and expressions. 10-4 7-11, adios muchachas, possum up a gum stumpGǪ and many more.
He meets in heaven his mother who passed away when he was a infant, wife June, infant son Joseph, father Charles (Mary Louise), brothers Conrad and William Forst, Dr. Bill Cottle and aunt Electa Cottle.
He will always be remembered for his sweet smile, funny words and expressions.

His memorial service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Veterans Memorial Center, 400 S. Sykes Creek Pkwy., Merritt Island, FL 32952 followed by US Army honors.
He will be interred this fall at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Scottsmoor.
