JoAnn Meadows

Obituary of JoAnn Houston Meadows

September 15, 1930 – August 11, 2018 JoAnn was born in the small town of Artie, West Virginia. She had two brothers and two sisters whom she shared many wonderful memories with and her mother, Eula Houston, which held a very special place in her heart. JoAnn began working at an early age and fell in love and married Jim Meadows in 1949. She had three children before the family moved to Kentucky. When the children were older, JoAnn went to work as a florist at Field’s Flower Shop but years later moved to Ohio and her career changed to Manager of a commercial kitchen. She later became employed at Medex Supply producing medical supplies for hospitals. She worked in food service at Krogers in Dublin, Ohio until retirement at age 76. While JoAnn stayed busy with employment opportunities, in her leisure she enjoyed feeding animals, any four legged creature was the object of her affection. She discovered that dogs were excellent companions and she loved and nurtured Friskie, Chico and Ginger to name a few of her precious joys. But JoAnn’s greatest love was her love for the Lord and also her love for people. She would tell others about Jesus and the many ways He had helped her and she encouraged them to seek the Lord as she wanted all her friends and family to have a relationship with Jesus Christ like she did. She loved to sing, she had a beautiful smile that was contagious and loved giving gifts especially homemade ones. JoAnn is now the recipient of the most precious gift ever given, eternal life in Christ. Let us celebrate her life and rejoice in the future and hope given to us in Jesus Christ the Lord. There will be a Celebration of Life at Calvary Chapel Merritt Island on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 1pm. A Celebration of Life will also be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, located at 1108 Keene-Troy Road, Nicholasville, Kentucy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Health First in Merritt Island.
