Obituary of Ira Dale Adams

Ira Dale Adams, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2018. He was recently preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy Louise Adams. Ira is survived by his four children, Roger Dale Adams and spouse Donna Ballengee Adams of Schertz, TX; Ira Sam Adams, Rhonda Louise Moore, and Darryl Wayne Adams of Melbourne, FL. Ira had 11 grandchildren, Roger Jr. and Raechel; Samuel, Jonathon, Ashley and Aaron; Pamela, Kristopher, Russell and Mandy; and Melissa. His 12 great grandchildren, Reid and Regan; Hannah and Liam; Ashton and Bailey; Cooper and Carter; Reagan, Warren, and Sawyer; and Cairo. Ira was born in South Bend, IN, moved to Denver, CO in 1945, served in the Korean War in the US Navy until 1952, and he and Louise were married shortly thereafter. They lived in Utah, California, Alabama and moved to Melbourne in 1968, where Ira worked as a Design Engineer at Harris Corporation, until his retirement in 1999. No matter the circumstances, he worked tirelessly six-days a week, providing for his family, and helping others. He loved writing songs, playing music, and penning “Letters to the Editor”, in fact, he was honored by the Florida Today a few years ago for reaching his 500th published letter milestone. Ira was a man of many talents, and generous beyond words. He was truly loved and will be forever in our hearts. A combined memorial service for Ira and Louise is planned for 11am on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001 S. Hickory St. in Melbourne. Ira and Louise will be laid to rest at 1:30 pm on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US Highway 1 in Mims.
