Obituary of Carl David Van Etten
Carl David Van Etten, age 82 of Palm Bay, Florida passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019 after a strong and courageous battle with a long illness.
He was born on February 1, 1937 in Ellenville, New York to Earl and Emily Van Etten, both whom preceded him in death.
Carl remained in Ellenville area until he and Virginia moved to Florida 16 years ago. Carl was a member of the Ellenville First Aid Squad for 35 years and worked for the New York Department of Corrections. He was a former member of the Shrines and volunteered as a driver at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne.
Carl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather he leaves behind his loving wife of 44 years, Virginia; daughter, Susan (John) Stone; stepdaughter, Janice (Fred) Fanelli; brother, Douglas (Susan) Van Etten; sisters, Virginia (Al) Carlson and Beverly (Ken) Terwilliger; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Laura and stepson, Gary.
Carl was a kind and gentle soul and will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001 South Hickory Street in Melbourne.
