Obituary of Carl W. “Sonny” Hall
On Saturday, June 15th a video appeared on Facebook of Sonny and I. That night I lost my best friend and husband of almost 38 years.
When we met on August 28, 1981, we knew it would be forever as long as we both shall live. We shared a good life. He was a wonderful person and spent his adult life working as a machine assembler.
Sonny loved to hunt, fish, drive and work on old cars. He always said “he wished he had all the cars his Pappy had back in the 50s and 60s.” He enjoyed hill climbing outside Hershey, Pennsylvania with his little Triumph sports car. His love for cars included the “Corvairs”, he owned several and one had gotten him a 1st place trophy. Sonny’s love for antique automobiles didn’t end with cars, he liked old trucks from the 1940s & 1950s. I think he just loved antique cars. We were both active in First State (Delaware) Club for several years.
Sonny was always known for his love of dogs, but his true love was German Shephards. We had two, Sieka and Sadie. I will be honoring Sonny’s request to be cremated and have the cremains of his dogs placed with him.
He played high school football until he was injured, but always remained a fan. He attended some college courses at Penn State and was a true fan of the Nittany Lions. He also loved his Black and Yellow GO STEELERS!! He was an avid collector of sports memorabilia and had the shirts and hats to show it.
Best of all he Sonny will be remembered for being a kind person everyone liked and a loving father to his children, Keith and Karla and later to his stepson Tom. All the grandchildren and great grandchildren he was lucky to have. They all called him Papa, because he was to cool to be called grandfather.
He always talked about his mom and dad with love and respect. He truly loved his sisters Margie and Ruth and his brother Barry who passed away in 2011. He was close to all in the Langley family.
Until Sonny passed he was always thinking of others. Right now he has met his dogs at the rainbow bridge and is hugging his mom, dad and brother.
He was my husband in sickness and in health. Sonny was my hero. RIP XOXO!
