Obituary of Shirley Symon
Shirley Symon, 83, died Monday, August 12, 2019 at the William Child’s Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida following an unexpected illness.
Shirley was born August 14, 1935 in Toronto, Ontario Canada to the late Frank and Rebecca White. She was the oldest of four daughters, predeceased by Eunice Roberts and greatly loved by Arlene Stainton and Francis McFarlane. She married Donald Symon of Ridgewood, NJ on June 29, 1957 and they were blessed with three children together and 62 years of marriage.
Shirley professed her life to Jesus Christ at an early age. She loved serving in churches through her piano and singing ministries. Serving on several committees, she always enjoyed helping others. She was actively involved in the Christian Women’s Club in Niagara Falls, NY and York, Pennsylvania serving as both Co-Chairman and Chairman. She also headed up the MOPS program in her church.
Shirley was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother and friend, always thinking of others first. She will be greatly missed by her three children and their spouses, Frank Symon, Grand Island, NY (Jan Symon); Melanie Tanner (Tom Tanner), Palm Bay, FL and Susan Nugent (Carlos Nugent), Melbourne Beach, FL; six grandchildren, Aaron Nugent, Dustin Tanner (Brittany Tanner), Brett Tanner, Rebecca Symon, Gregory Symon and Wesley Tanner, and one great-granddaughter, Stella Marino (Nugent).
