Obituary of Norma Jeanette Slavinsky
Norma J. Slavinsky, 88, passed away peacefully at the William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, FL on Thursday, October 3, 2019. Her beloved husband of 48 years was by her side. Norma was born on March 17, 1931, the daughter of Beecher and H. Beatrice (Cluff) Cullins and was raised in Monticello, ME.
After graduating in 1950 from Ricker Classical Institute in Houlton, ME, Norma moved to Boston, MA to pursue a career in nursing. She spent most of her nursing years in private care; showing the upmost compassion and deepest respect for her patients. While living in MA, Norma met and married the love of her life. From MA, she and her husband moved to PA and then migrated south to the sunshine state and settled in West Melbourne, FL.
Norma is survived by her devoted husband, William “Bill” W. Slavinsky and many of her nieces and nephews. She is also a great-aunt several times over. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Lewis Cullins and Donald Cullins; sisters, Anna (Cullins) Ewings, Ruth (Cullins) Lane, Phyllis (Cullins) Hartley, half-sister, Jean Rush; and nephews, Harold Ewings and Allison Ewings.
Those who were fortunate enough to have had Norma in their lives remember her as an elegant and well-spoken person with a keen sense of humor. She loved her husband dearly, was supportive and caring to her family members and treasured her friendships with people that she met on her journey throughout life. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. While a light has gone off on earth, a star now shines brightly in heaven.
The family extends a very heartfelt thanks to the many wonderful neighbors who have shown kindness and offered support for Norma and Bill during this difficult time. They truly exemplify the meaning of good Samaritans. The family would also like to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Ruddy Ruiz for his compassion, assistance and support.
It was Norma’s wish not to have a funeral service. May her beautiful soul rest in peace.
