Obituary of Catherine Carolyn Patton Sparks
Catherine Carolyn Patton Sparks, resident of West Melbourne, Florida, formerly of Maytown, KY, Morehead, KY, Frederick, MD, and Vienna, Austria, passed away on Saturday December 1, 2018 in Melbourne, Florida at the age of 79.
“Babs” Sparks was born in Maytown, Kentucky to Charles B. and Geneva Blanche Patton on Mother’s Day in 1939, the first of five children. She grew up and studied in Eastern Kentucky, meeting her future husband Eugene Sparks at Morehead State University. They married on July 24, 1959 and brought three loving daughters into the world.
Babs was a lifelong gardener and enjoyed her many hours “playing in the dirt” in her yard. She traveled extensively throughout the United States with her husband, both for business and pleasure, as well as visiting dozens of countries in Eastern and Western Europe and Central America. Babs is missed deeply by her husband of nearly 60 years, Eugene Sparks, and two daughters, Darby D. Dickerson of Fort Pierce, Florida and Angela R. Sparks of Melbourne, Florida, three granddaughters, Erin Raye Dickerson, Taylor Danielle Finley and Haley Marie Worlow, one grandson Jordan Marshall Finley, and one great-grandson Gunner Wayne Finley.
She is predeceased by her daughter Wendy Raye Worlow and her sister Sharon Patton Moore.
A gathering of friends and family to honor and remember Babs will take place at her home in Melbourne, Florida on Saturday December 15, 2018 from 1pm until 5pm. All who wish to share in this gathering can contact madarindd@yahoo.com or songbird722@hotmail.com for more information.
Funeral services and burial will take place in the Spring in her hometown of Maytown, Kentucky.
