Obituary of Robert J. Sontag
Robert Sontag, local DJ from +óGé¼+ôBobby and Susie+óGé¼-¥, died May 4, 2016 after suffering a massive stroke. Bobby was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Seymour and Gertrude Sontag. He had a brother, Richard, and a sister, Joyce.
He lived on Long Island and toured, playing drums, with several major bands during the 1960’s and 70’s, such as Wilson Pickett, The Drifters, Louis Prima, and also toured with The Bob Hope Show in Vietnam with his band +óGé¼+ôThe Pied Pipers+óGé¼-¥. Bobby moved to Brevard County in 1980 and married Sue Sontag on June 21, 1986. They played live music for six years (drums and keyboards) until 1992 when they formed the singing disc jockey act +óGé¼+ôBobby and Susie+óGé¼-¥. Bobby was best known for his Neil Diamond medleys. He also was a lifetime New York Yankee fan and loved Derek Jeter but never got to attend a live game.
Bobby will be missed by many people and loved and cherished every minute of every day in his wife’s heart. Rest in peace, my sweetheart, until we are together again.
