Obituary of Frances Anne Postma
Frances Anne Dobrow Postma, 103, passed peacefully on October 20, 2017.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 26, 1914. Her parents, Kazimir and Anna Dobro had immigrated to America from Lithuania.
After graduating from the Chicago School of Nursing at Mother Cabrini Memorial Hospital, she served as a registered nurse stewardess for the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad Company ( Illinois Central). She received many letters of accommodation from passengers and met many traveling dignitaries as well as Hollywood actors as she traveled the train routes of the Burlington (“Everywhere West”) and the Exposition Flyer (Golden Gate International Exposition 1939-1940).
In 1950 she married her husband John Postma and they moved to South Florida. Over a century of stories of a life well lived were told.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Postma, sister Stella Blabas and brothers Ben Dobrow and John Dobro.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Louis and Linda Postma of Indialantic; her nephew Ron Dobro of Melbourne, and great nieces and nephew Janice Palhegyi, Gayle Clark, and Terry Blabas, all of of Illinois.
She will be laid to rest at St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois.
