Obituary of Mary “Kay” O’Brien

Mary K. O’Brien (O’Beirne), known to friends and family as Kay, died peacefully on January 11, 2020 at Royal Oaks Nursing and Rehab Center in Titusville, FL. She was born on January 29, 1932 in Washington, D.C. the daughter of Hazel Marie Bridges (O’Beirne) and Herbert Timothy O’Beirne. Kay loved music, dance and socializing; she was an animal lover but particularly loved kitties. She spent many years in a clown club where she enjoyed making people laugh and she also participated in several plays and musicals. She always had a smile on her face and was quick to tell a joke. She loved people and they loved her back. She spent several years working as an activity director at a nursing home after going back to school to get an associate’s degree, a huge accomplishment as a returning adult student. She also worked as a receptionist at The Little Sisters of the Poor. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert T. O’Beirne, Hazel Marie Bridges (O’Beirne), her husband Stephen A. Franzmeier, her grandson Austin Franzmeier, her granddaughter Angie Coleman and her son in law Gregory C. Groebner. She is survived by her daughter Colleen Kidwell and her husband Thomas of Cape Coral, FL; son Brian Franzmeier and his wife Dawn of Oak Hill, FL; daughter Carolyn Groebner and her husband Ken Jarosz of Hope Hull, AL; daughter Ann Mejia and her husband Wayne of Fayetteville, NC; and son Stephen Franzmeier of Osceola, WI. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Her memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001 South Hickory Street, Melbourne, FL. She will be missed by many and never forgotten; we love you.
