Obituary of Barbara Anne Gryboski
GRYBOSKI, Barbara A., 90, of Centennial, CO, formerly of Lexington, MA and Palm Bay, FL, passed away on February 26, 2017. She was born in Brighton, MA on January 11, 1927 to Florence and Charles McGowan. She graduated from Mount Auburn School of Nursing in Cambridge, MA in 1947, and became Head Nurse of Ward B at Mount Auburn Hospital at the age of 21. She left nursing to raise her seven children and to be a support to her physician husband. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. Gryboski, M.D., her only son, Joseph C. Gryboski, and her brother, Howard C. McGowan. She is survived by her six daughters, Kathryn (Robert) Tibbals of Colorado, Barbara Hallahan of Ireland, Ann Gryboski, M.D. of Massachusetts, Elinor Weisfeld of Florida, Mary Shue of Utah, and Kristina (Eric Marr) Gryboski, Ph.D. of Maryland. She is also survived by her sister, Florence Farrar, thirteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She will be remembered by many for her love of family, her vivid memory, her wonderful stories, her insightful intelligence, her kindness, and for all that she did for others.
A celebration of her life will be held at Someren Glen Retirement Community on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM. A family memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA. Donations may be sent in Barbara’s name to Christian Living Communities 7000 E.
