Obituary of James “Lynn” Mars
James “Lynn“ Mars, age 78, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019. He was born on September 3, 1940, in Birmingham Alabama to Iva and DB Mars.
Lynn attended the University of Alabama (Roll Tide). He was also a proud member of the United States Army, where he served his country honorably. Following his military years, Lynn enjoyed a successful career in Configuration Management until his retirement.
Lynn’s passion was for the Alabama Crimson Tide, but his greatest legacy was his unconditional love and support for his family.
Lynn was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather (Poppy), brother and uncle. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth “Biz” Mars; daughter Debbi and her husband Phil Douthit; three grandchildren, Lynz Novak, Stacy Bickford and Jami Skinner; six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jaelyn, Madison, Jasmine, Ayden and River; brother Charles Mars and his wife Barbara; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly and who will mourn his loss deeply. Lynn was preceded in death by his son Raymond Cormany and his brother Wayne Mars.
Lynn, thank you for the love you gave to all of us … you will forever be missed. Keep the Tide Rolling and rest easy until we meet again. We love you so very much.
